MEP Cycling Retreat Recap
So grateful to lead the first MEP Retreat last weekend in Marin, beautiful road cycling, breathwork, meditation, movement and some real vulnerable connection with a great group in a beautiful patch of Earth. I was a bit nervous to host my first retreat, but it was that kind of resistance that needed diving into and reaffirmed this is really what I want to be doing, using movement to create connection and openness to explore ourselves together, to grow, to learn and to experience the richness of living. Keep an eye out for future offerings coming in 2023 both with running and cycling, and integrating a variety of beautiful mediums for connection and sharing.
Do I need a Continuous Glucose Monitor?
The last year has been an interesting journey when it comes to food, fueling and my body. I’ve learned a lot but recently I’ve bumped up against some new awareness of my less-than-optimal relationship to my body and how that affects my journey with food. I’ve wanted to be lean and thin as long as I can remember, so getting into intermittent fasting and keto-leaning diets was an easy sell. However diving into endurance sport and triathlon, that just isn’t sustainable. While I’ve learned to embrace carbs logically, I recently realized I am still under-fueling by quite a bit, especially on big training days which can be detrimental both physically and emotionally. And so, here I am, pretty unsure of what to eat day to day, aware of my fears around over eating and gaining weight, not looking or feeling how I want to, and trying to let go of that attachment gently. All of this has led me to consider trying out a CGM, having heard of them via Supersapiens, since discovering NutriSense and Levels – the appeal is having real objective data to use as training wheels to get back on track with real-time reporting on how my body is reacting, what it needs and just as importantly, what it doesn’t. I feel like I’m finally ready to get help on this aspect, for so long I figured I could do it myself, but my warped POV on my body and food is in the way, and I feel using a CGM for a couple months could really help see more clearly.
